It won’t be long and my wife will be giving birth to our latest edition. I usually don’t get too personal with my blogs but HAD to mention it. We are almost all done getting everything ready for our new princess. It is less than 2 weeks until the due date so time is really closing in. We are super excited. And yes, I will write a piece about that.

So with all the excitement, it sounded like a time to start a new business in addition to the full time pro angler career. Really, we had been planning to have another child and we had been planning to start this soft plastics company. It just happened to fall where they both are hitting at the same time. All the while, I am preparing for the upcoming Bassmaster Classic and Elite Series season.

My boat wrap design is getting close. The truck and boat together should be pretty cool. I am excited about seeing it but I am not quite sure when it will get put on. Just another time consuming deal to work into the schedule of the next 4 weeks.

Now, we have a full week of business under our belt at Missile Baits. We consist of Shannon, Julie, and myself. My wife will help once baby gets a few months old. Shannon does the web, graphic design, IT, and much more. He is awesome. Julie is just in her second week. She has a banking background and is learning fast. She does a lot of shipping, organizing, answering the phones, and computer work. I like the way our team is shaping up.

I am not going to divulge any sales details but I am happy with what we have going and who is carrying our product. We have picked up some major online retailers. We have sold to some good independents, including the biggest one near where I grew up. Green Top was always the greatest place on Earth to me growing up. I am very proud that they are carrying our baits.

The Bassmaster Classic is coming up. I am excited to fish it. I feel good about what will be happening there. Before then, we will have another child, be getting my boat and truck wrapped, working the Richmond Fishing Expo for 3 days, giving a seminar at Bass U in Massachusetts, working a Bass Cat day for friends at Greene Boat and Motor, and trying to get a new soft plastics company rolling. It will be a full 4 weeks.
